Asustek, Taiwan ODMs benefit from growing demand for inexpensive smartphones in Japan: There is increasing demand for inexpensive SIM-free smartphones in the Japan market and consequently ZenFone series models launched by Taiwan-based vendor Asustek Computer have been in booming sale and Japan-based smartphone vendors including Sony Mobile Communications, Sharp, Fujitsu and Kyocera have sought cooperation with Taiwan-based ODMs to develop and produce inexpensive SIM-free Android smartphones specifically for sale in the Japan market, according to Taiwan-based smartphone ODMs.

Back in February, word got out that Samsung is planning to launch a Galaxy Tab A version with S-Pen compatibility. As it turns out, the rumor was accurate, as it was recently discovered that Samsung has quietly launched the tablet, called the Galaxy Tab A Plus, in France.



The Samsung Galaxy Tab A Plus is now the first non-premium device to feature S Pen compatibility. Historically, Samsung launched S Pen smartphones and tablets under the Note branding, but it looks like the manufacturer could be planning to make the S Pen a differentiable feature for its mid-range and entry-level devices ...

Last September at IFA 2014, Huawei marked its presence on the expo by unveiling the upper mid-range Ascend G7, among other devices.

It looks like a successor to this handset is in the works - the manufacturer could be dropping the "Ascend" once again and prepping a Huawei P8 handset for IFA 2015, as such a device has been spotted at China's TENAA regulatory website, all along with some specs and a handful of photos.

Rolling under the AL00 model number, the Huawei G8 looks like a metal-clad warrior with pretty thin side bezels.
