When VentureBeat’s Devindra Hardawar reviewed the Nexus 4, he found the phone to be an attractive but ultimately crippled powerhouse of a device. Turns out he was in the minority, as Google Play is already sold out of the LG phone.
Both the 8GB and 16GB variants of the Nexus 4 are listed as “coming soon”, even though they were set to go on sale earlier today in both the U.S. and UK. (Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Nexus 10 is still in stock.)
While that’s probably a good sign for the Nexus 4′s early sales, it’s also shows that Google misjudged just how many people would be interested in the device.
And can we blame them? More than anything, the Nexus 4 represents an escape from the shackles of the two-year service contract. Even better, at $299, the device is pretty inexpensive considering its feature set and capabilities.
Whatever the deal is, we’re bugging Google for an official word on the Nexus 4′s status.
