HTC (2498) is expected to unveil its latest smartphone, code-named M7, at a press conference in New York City next month. New job listing confirms Google and Motorola are building the ‘X Phone’
New job listing confirms Google and Motorola are building the ‘X Phone’:

It looks like Google (GOOG) and Motorola are working on something special after all. Phandroid has spotted a job posting on Motorola's LinkedIn page that's looking for a senior director of product management for the long-rumored "X-Phone" being jointly developed by Google and its Motorola Mobility division. Rumors about the X Phone started springing up toward the end of last year and all indications are that Google plans to release the phone by the end of this year. Google's plan to build a phone with a company it owns has sparked speculation that the company may be looking to take more control of its Android operating system and to lessen Samsung's (005930) power over the Android ecosystem.

Apple may use the iPad mini’s touchscreen tech to make the next-gen iPad even lighter and thinner
Apple may use the iPad mini’s touchscreen tech to make the next-gen iPad even lighter and thinner:

According to a new report from Digitimes, the next-generation 9.7-inch iPad will be equipped with the same "G/F2 (DITO) thin-film type" touchscreen technology as the iPad mini. Apple (AAPL) currently uses a glass-on-glass touchscreen in its iPad models, however the switch to G/F2 technology will reportedly allow the fifth-generation iPad to be thinner and lighter. Digitimes notes that Apple's move to DITO technology shows that the company is "looking to bump up its competition in the tablet segment," adding that it is also expected to have a "more adequate supply" to the technology compared to the one-glass-solution technology Apple was said to be exploring. Recent reports have suggested that Apple will release a new iPad and iPad mini in March.

Samsung invests $58 million to make sure the stylus stays in style
Samsung invests $58 million to make sure the stylus stays in style:

When Samsung (005930) announced the S-Pen stylus with the Galaxy Note, we, like the rest of the world, laughed it off. The stylus was a big accessory in the days of the Palm Pilot and other PDA devices, however times had changed. Since the rise of the modern smartphone, the stylus was effectively killed of, or so we thought. Samsung has since expanded its S-Pen offering to its Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet and it is one of the company's largest selling points. To ensure that we will never be without the stylus ever again, Samsung has invested in Wacom, a company know for its digital drawing pads and stylus pens. Samsung has acquired a 5% stake in the manufacturer, who are actually the ones behind the company's S-Pen, for a mere $58.2 million.

Apple will no longer sell the Mac Pro in Europe starting in March
Apple will no longer sell the Mac Pro in Europe starting in March:

In a letter sent to European retailers obtained by MacRumors on Thursday, Apple (AAPL) informed its partners that it will be halting Mac Pro sales due to a new regulatory requirement concerning the computer's internal fans. The company will take final shipment orders from resellers on February 18th and as of March 1st it will no longer sell the Mac Pro in any "EU, EU candidate and EFTA countries." The Mac Pro is considered a niche product and halting sales will have little to no effect on Apple's earnings. It should also be noted that the high-end computer has not received an overhaul since 2010, however the company is expected to release a new model later this year.

Android made up 86% of Q4 smartphone shipments in China, iOS was 12%:
China is a huge smartphone market and growing at quite a rapid clip, but more amazing than the size of the market in China is the relative lack of mobile platform competition in the region. New data from Strategy Analytics says that 86% of smartphone shipments in Q4 2012 were Android devices, and a mere 12% were iOS...
