Facebook wants its staff to use Android phones instead of iPhones:
It was reported earlier this year that
Facebook (
FB) was
forcing some of its employees to give up their
iPhones and use
Android smartphones instead. The decision was meant to help its team improve its sub par Android application. The social networking giant is reportedly stepping up its efforts and has now plastered posters across its headquarters encouraging employees to “switch today,” according to
TechCrunch. A Facebook spokesperson confirmed the company had “more iPhones deployed” than Android handsets, however after it “created more awareness that Android devices are available,” there are now “plenty of people here carrying around both devices, and not just engineers and not just mobile people.”
The company’s smartphones come preloaded with an employees-only beta version of the Facebook and Facebook Messenger applications that include a special “rage shake” bug reporting feature. The program automatically sends information to Facebook engineers after a worker “violently shakes” his or her phone. The feature’s simplicity has reportedly allowed the company to maximize the number of mobile bugs its employees report.
