The Engineer is reporting that Epicrystals is teaming up with the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Aalto University to develop next-generation mobile laser projection displays. While the exact technology being developed isn't clear, the parties indicate that the technology being pursued is entirely new - like nothing else being used in the world. Further, Epicrystals expects to leverage this technology to be THE market leader in laser light sources by 2015. Pretty aggressive, seeing as they will be competing with the likes of Osram, Soraa, Corning, among others.
