Digitimes Research: Taiwan makers to ship over 17 million handsets in 4Q12: Taiwan-based OBMs (own-brand manufacturers), ODMs and IDM (joint-design manufacturers) will ship an estimated 17.14 million handsets in total during the fourth quarter of 2012, growing 7.1% on quarter but slipping 13.4% on year. 16.13 million (94.1%) of the total will be smartphones, showing sequential growth of 12.8% and on-year growth of 17.8%, according to Digitimes Research.
