RIM loses yet another big government client, this time due to ‘failing’ BlackBerry phones:
BlackBerry 10 really can’t come soon enough for RIM (RIMM). AllThingsD reports that the National Transportation Safety Board has thrown up its hands and decided to ditch its BlackBerry smartphones, saying that the devices “have been failing both at inopportune times and at an unacceptable rate.” To make matters worse for RIM, the agency hinted that it was considering a switch to the Apple (AAPL) iPhone 5 as a device that could deliver “effective, reliable and stable communication capabilities.” Last month the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement said it was switching its 17,600 users away from BlackBerry to the iPhone, while major U.S. government consultant Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. and its staff of 25,000 also decided to give RIM the boot.
