Pilot blames Apple iPhone for in-flight navigation error from 2011: A commercial airliner back in 2011 was sent off-course thanks to interference from an Apple iPhone, which threw off the compass on the plane; at the time the plane was cruising at 9000 feet and the faulty compass readings sent the plane miles off course. Once a flight attendant told a passenger in the 9th row to turn off his iPhone, the problem with the navigation system cleared up and the pilot was able to right the plane...
