Retina iPad mini launch imminent as production kicks into high gear »:
Just a few short months ago, rumors were flying that suggested Apple’s second-generation iPad mini would launch without a Retina display. BGR noted in June that a low-resolution next-generation iPad mini launch was beyond unlikely, and now analysts are indeed singing a different tune. The latest news comes from IHS iSuppli, which said on Wednesday night that second-generation iPad mini production has now ramped up ahead of the tablet's upcoming launch. "Based [on what] we are seeing in the pipeline... the volumes are similar to the iPad mini that we saw in Q4 of last year," IHS analyst Vinita Jakhanwal told CNET. He also noted that the new tablet will feature a 2,048 x 1,536-pixel display, matching the resolution of the Retina display on Apple's full-size iPad. The Retina iPad mini is expected to be unveiled at a press conference in October alongside a completely redesigned full-size iPad.
