Samsung to delay flexible AMOLED display production in order to meet future demand
It was only back in July that we heard Samsung (005930) was starting production of its flexible AMOLED displays and was also rumored to be preparing a device with the bendable display by the end of the year. A new report from ETNews now says the Korean electronics giant will be delaying mass production for the flexible AMOLED display until 2013 in order to boost yield rates from 56,000 per month to 64,000 per month. ETNews cites the success of devices such as the Galaxy S III as another reason why Samsung is not rushing to produce flexible displays. A flexible display would not only allow mobile devices to be thinner, but it'd also allow for different types of wearable computers.
