Display Central | Display Daily - 3M Fingerprint Fading

Display Central | Display Daily: "One reality of working with displays, especially those that include a touch screen, is the accumulation of fingerprints on display surfaces.  Since the presence of fingerprints can interfere with the quality of the imagery, many users find it necessary to periodically clean the surface.  Well, a new product offering by 3M may provide a solution to this nuisance problem.

The term solution seems to be literally true.  Let me explain.

3M (St. Paul, Minnesota) is now offering a so-called “Natural View Fingerprint Fading” screen protector.  The product is a film that is attached to the front of the display.  With the film in place, fingerprints are claimed to fade away over the course of a few minutes

3M has declined to explain the means by which the protector fades the fingerprints.  Speculation in the press is that it is accomplished by some sort of a solution on the upper surface of the protector."
