Apple reportedly ramps up iPad mini production ahead of October launch:

Apple (
AAPL) has yet to confirm the existence of its “
iPad mini,” but a new report suggests the company is already planning for a blockbuster launch. Citing unnamed sources within
Apple’s supply chain,
Digitimes on Tuesday reported that production of Apple’s shrunken slate will ramp up to 4 million units per month beginning in September ahead of a rumored October launch. The site’s sources said that the 7.85-inch iPad entered low-volume production this past June and that Apple is expecting big sales ahead of the holidays. The iPad mini may be unveiled alongside Apple’s “
iPhone 5” during
a press conference next month, and it is expected to
retail for $249 or $299.
