New CEO Melissa Mayer starts cracking the whip at Yahoo

New CEO Melissa Mayer starts cracking the whip at Yahoo:
Yahoo CEO Mayer Raises Standards
Yahoo (YHOO) employees had better enjoy the free iPhones and all the free food they ll be getting atᅠYahoo company cafeterias because it seems they re going to be working a lot of late nights. Business Insiderᅠreports that new Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is letting Yahoo employees know that they re going to have to start putting in a lot more hours if they want to catch up with her former company Google (GOOG).
An unnamed source tells Business Insiderᅠthat a team of Yahoo s product designers pitched a new product to Mayer that she approved on the condition that they get it to market months ahead of their own schedule. Then Mayer supposedly told them they had exactly one week to figure out how to get the product out by the end of the year, and that they would all be fired if they couldn t get it done.
While such measures may be extreme, they re largely reflective of the fact that Yahoo has fallen so far behind Google over the past decade to the point where many lawmakers have declared that Google has monopoly power over the search realm.
