The general way things go is that products iterate until they find the perfect form factor based on the technology available and consumer need of the time. For example, that has been why TVs have focused towards a 50-to-60-inch size with full HD resolution for such a long time. 4K is on the way, but there still isn't enough 4K video to push most buyers to make the upgrade. It may also be why we've seen the inexorable push towards phablets in the mobile space. More and more, the data seems to bear out that phablets could be the perfect form factor for mobile.
